Getting Your Santex IR Lamps Right
When you’re swapping out lamps in a Santex system, you aren’t just shopping for a light bulb. You’re looking for a very specific kind of heat—the kind that keeps your production line moving without slowing things down. We build our IR lamps to keep up with the big-brand OEMs. In fact, if our tubes don’t hit the same heating benchmarks as those high-end lamps you’re used to, we’ll refund you the price difference. Simple as that. The Voltage Trap Here is the most important part: you’ve got to get the wattage and voltage balance right. High-wattage tubes give you that quick burst of thermal energy you need for fast curing. To make sure you get a steady heat profile from end to end, we’ve dialed in the filaments specifically for these quartz envelopes. But please, double-check your transformer output before you plug anything in. If you put a 230V lamp into a 400V circuit, it’s going to pop instantly. It’s a costly mistake that’s easy to avoid. Built to Last (and Fit) These lamps take a beating. The constant heating up and cooling down creates a massive amount of thermal shock. That’s why we use high-purity quartz glass—it can handle the stress without cracking. Then there are the connectors. Whether you’re using R7s or SK pins, they need to be snug. A loose connection causes arcing, which eats away at your contacts and kills the lamp way too early. We also put a lot of focus on the seal between the filament and the end-cap. If oxygen leaks in, the filament snaps. We make sure that doesn’t happen. Putting Them to Work The good news? These are drop-in replacements. You won’t have to mess around with your reflectors or modify your setup. They just fit. One quick tip: if you push a lamp to its max wattage, your conveyor housing is going to get a lot hotter. Make sure your ventilation is clear. If the housing starts to overheat, the quartz can actually warp. Once that happens, your IR beam shifts, and you’ll start seeing cold spots on your product. Keep it cool, and these lamps will do the heavy lifting for you.
