How the heat actually works
Here is the secret: we use short and medium-wave infrared. Unlike a standard heater that just blows warm air around, infrared energy hits the surface of your walls and towels directly. It’s like a shot of energy that forces water to evaporate almost instantly. By keeping your walls and ceiling warm, you stop condensation from ever forming. If there’s no standing water, mold spores have nowhere to live. Simple as that.
Finding the sweet spot
Getting the power right is a bit of a balancing act. If you put a beast of a heater in a tiny bathroom, you might actually melt your plastic fixtures. But if it’s too weak? You won’t hit the temperature needed to actually dry things out. We calibrate these units to hit the “danger zones.” I’m talking about those annoying corners and grout lines where moisture just hangs around forever.
A few tips for the install
One thing to remember: infrared travels in a straight line. It doesn’t bend around corners. Because of that, you really want to mount the lamp right in the center of the ceiling to get the best coverage. And please, keep the reflectors clean. A little bit of dust can kill your efficiency by 10% or 15%. That means the unit has to work harder and run longer just to do the same job. Also, make sure your ventilation is clear. If heat builds up at the base of the unit, it stresses the electrical connectors and your quartz tubes will burn out way faster than they should.
